The Small Church Community (SCC) is relatively new to St. Francis by the Sea, but is not new to the Church. As the Faith spread in the 1st Century, it was by the growth of “house churches” throughout the then known world. Today, as then, they represent an opportunity to share and grow in our Faith in a comfortable, low-pressure small group setting. SCC members are enthusiastic about their experience and are anxious to share it with anyone interested. Guests are always welcomed at their meetings, and you are invited to try one or more before making a commitment. Small Church Communities are small groups of 6-12 people who meet regularly, usually in homes, for faith-sharing and fellowship. We try to relate the up-coming week’s liturgy to our personal lives, but may branch out into other spiritual readings, tapes or DVDs. As a participant you can… - Share faith and serve the spiritual journey of others
- Reflect on the Sunday Scriptures
- Build community through face-to-face church in a small group
- Grow in discipleship
The pastoral leadership of the parish is hopeful that this new initiative will lead to the formation of many different Small Church Communities over time to help deepen our faith formation. You are encouraged to give this opportunity your prayerful consideration. Get in touch with an SCC Contact to get more information.
